This seems silly....Chase has already gone to pre-school for three years. Kindergarten is not much different. BUT, it is still hard for me to believe that my baby is going to school. He wasn't supposed to get this big this fast. People have always told me...cherish every minute...it goes by too fast. I had no idea. It seems like just yesterday that I brought him home from the hospital. It wasn't too long ago that he crawled for the first time...walked for the first time. Not too long ago that he said "Mama" for the first time.
I wrote the above after meet the teacher night on Monday. Needless to say...I had to stop:)
Today was Chase's first day of Kindergarten. He was so cute (I mean, cool:) He was very brave although I could tell he was a tad nervous. Right before I left (they practically had to kick me out) he whispered, "Mom...give me a hug." I love this boy.

i LOVE the picture of jonathan walking him into the school!!! that is soo precious! and he looks like he's 8 years old in the picture of him getting out of the car..i know i'm sorry, i'm getting way ahead of things! but seriously you are raising two incredible children and i'm blessed to be a part of their lives. i love you jon, joni, chasey, & brenna!
Sending the first born off to school for the first time was harder than I thought it would be. I actually thought I would be relieved to get Kyler into Kindergarten, but I cried. The youngest kid is hard too, but not nearly as much (it's more bitter sweet).
As far as him wanting a hug, I have figured something out. Until they get to be in the 4th or 5th grade, mom is still cool, and her affection is still something they openly want. After that, I know that deep down inside they still want your affection, but they just don't want people to know. My youngest two still want me to come and have lunch with them at school, chaperone on field trips, and volunteer in their classroom. I'm enjoying it while it lasts, and you should too. It really does go by quickly. Once they start school, they wisp right on to the next grade, and then the next before you can even learn their teacher's name.
There is no father more proud of their son than I am. A lot of people don't know how special Chase is. Believe it or not, he has taught himself how to read and play guitar. Just this week, he has learned how to play an E chord. He has one of the softest hearts that I have ever encountered. He loves everyone and treats everyone with respect. All of this and he is only 5 years old. Of course he can be rotten sometimes, but he truly is the most amazing young man I have ever met. I love you Chase and I will always be proud of you!
Noni, It's not silly. Any time our kids move on to the next level, it's hard. They are going on to new places and new people and it is hard. God has given you a wonderful boy and you have been wonderful Christian parents, so I know Chase will do well. He will win people to Jesus because he is kind and compassionate.
So cute...I can't wait to do that scrapbook page...LOL. What a brave kid.
